Buttons For A Cause!!! Day 2 & 3

Hello all,

I’m trekin’ on with the button making. It seems so far that there is a common theme, flowers. Since a button is usually round, thats usually what it ends up looking like. What OTHER shapes can I make with round buttons? Any suggestions on something a little out there?… the more creative the better!

Anyway, here are my next two. Homework got a little crazy yesterday so I decided to just do one blog for both.

** I’m still looking forward to everyone’s ideas for charities and garments.

Enjoy!… until tomorrow… a fond adieu

Buttons For A Cause!!!! Day 1

I am now in school at Langara for art direction and have been given an interesting project. It consists of doing one small artistic thing per day (5 days a week until about March ‘10) that will later contribute to a bigger project. Not only must it be meaningful, but must somehow create some kind of community around it.

So after much debate, I have decided to decorate one textile button per day and later take them all and sew them on to a garment of my choice. That being said, I have not decided on the type of garment.

ANY IDEAS?

I was thinking of maybe making a funky blazer, or a floor length dress… maybe even getting an amazing vintage jacket and fixing it up. Either way, the piece has to be very unique and interesting as I am hoping to auction it off after all is said and done; then give the money to a charity.

If anyone has any suggestions on the type of garment or the charity I should give the money to, please don’t hesitate to leave me a comment and I will make sure to check it out=)

Now, without further ado, I give you… Button #1!!!!!!!!!! Hope you like it=)

Dead Kittie by Megz Majewski

The sweet taste of death

The sweet taste of death

Dead Kittie: “Roadkill and Ice Cream”

The strange and the adventurous are not to pass up a piece from this extraordinary little lady. A local Vancouver talent with a flair for mixing adorable concepts with death and morbidity to make an irresistible piece of art.

What I enjoy most about Megz’ paintings [other than the decrepit dollies] are the rich colours and vibrancy of each piece. The image appears almost lifelike in character- so much so, they  jump out at you from a distance and can capture your undivided attention for many many hours.
